Dev legend has no more plans for console, says Iwata; New peripherals thin on the ground
It could be the end of the road for new ideas on Wii: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata (pictured) has admitted that Wii Music is Shigeru Miyamoto’s last idea for the console.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Iwata also revealed that Nintendo is not likely to launch many more accessories for the format.
He added that WiiMotion Plus “didn’t cost much to make” – and said that it would be “very affordable” for the consumer.
“Wii Music completes what Miyamoto wrote in his proposal when he came up with the idea for the Wii,” said Iwata. “He was saying that he needs to think up more ideas now.”
He added: “Most of the ideas for accessories that we had initially come up with are out now. We might think up some more, and we might make them if we do, but we don't have any plans to release a whole lot more.”
When questioned about the suggested retail price for Wii Motion Plus, Iwata said:
“We haven't announced the price yet, but the cost of making the Wii Motion Plus is not that much, so I think we can make it very affordable.”

Good news
Good news. Can we have real games for Wii, now ?
Re: Good news
What a ridiculously misleading headline - all Iwata is saying is that Wii Music completes the original set of ideas that Miyamoto had from the early days of Wii's design, not that it will be his last ever idea on the console. It disappoints me that MCV would choose to write this story in such a sensationsalist way.
Re: Re: Good news
Agreed. Come on MCV, you can do better than this.
Re: Re: Re: Good news
The picture above is of Shigeru Miyamoto - not Satoru Iwata as stated in the article.

Worst web site for video game news....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Good news
Agreed. It's been going downhill for quite some time.
:(
While the headline may be misleading it served the purpose of a headline ... it got your attention and made you click the link and read the story. Newspapers and news websites do it all the time, hell, sometimes they even throw in a little humour, its not really the end of the world.
@Sam: Agreed.
Still annoying
Wouldn't exactly call it a good thing just because the majority does it. Besides, some may not read the entire thing and be mislead due to the title. I'd call it a poor choice for a headline
if they use that particular sound bite in order to catch readers
attentions. Anyway, yeah, like Sam said, hopefully this means more good will come out of the Wii. But.... chances are, Wiiware will fill in the crap gap.
