MGS4 pushes Konami Q1 profits up 32%

‘Sensational’ sales of Metal Gear Solid 4 pushed Konami’s Q1 net profits up 32 per cent year on year, the company has reported.

Net income stood at 5.7 billion Japanese Yen ($52.57m) for the three-month period to June 30th – which compared favourably with last year’s post of 3.9 billion Yen ($35.9m).

Quarterly revenues hit 70.8 billion Yen ($654.3m), up 16.7 per cent from the previous year’s 60.7 billion yen.

Q1 operating income stood at 11.6 billion Yen, up 65.6 percent on Q1 2007-2008.

PS3 exclusive MGS4 shipped over three million units on release day worldwide.

Konami called sales of the game "sensational."

The firm said it expects FY net revenue of 330 billion Yen, net profit of 26 billion yen and operating income of 45 billion yen.
