Chef tells MCV he's 'very interested' in market ahead of branded cooking title

Atari’s upcoming DS title What’s Cooking? With Jamie Oliver is due to hit shelves this October, and the celebrity chef has told MCV that he hopes it will “inspire people to cook.”

The game is to feature an interactive cookbook, virtual kitchen and over 100 original recipes, along with an interactive shopping list.

“Gaming is something I've been interested in for a while,” Oliver told MCV. “I love technology and the chance to combine that with something that inspires people to cook – I find that very exciting.

“The guys from Atari came to me with an idea and we played around with it and now it’s a really great piece of kit. I hope it will appeal to everyone from kids who are into food, young blokes who want to learn about cooking, women who are into cooking and gamers – everyone really.”

However, the Jamie Oliver name is more than just a marketing tool, as the chef has worked alongside Atari in producing the game, which is something Atari’s head of marketing Shân Savage is keen to point out. “It’s a great opportunity for Atari to be working with Jamie and his organisation,” she said. “They’ve been involved every step of the way, so it’s a collaborative process which is always more positive than simply attaching a name to a product.”

Surely Koch would have been a more appropriate publisher?

I think you'll find the pronouciation of the company (HQ'd in Germany) is the key link to our first entries comments.

Koch pronounced "****"...(or cocggghhhh, helps if you're Welsh).
So cooking by ****? :- (5/10, good effort)

If we were talking about Juiced, then yes I may have had a chuckle...

For those amused by the pronounciation of the name "Koch", don't forget that in the UK, they are also, on behalf of NIntendo, distributing Wii.
