Warner Music to up licensing costs?

Music behemoth to demand more money for Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks

Warner Music has told Reuters that video game publishers should pay more royalties for tracks used in Rock Band, Singstar, Guitar Hero and other rhythm-based software.

Chief executive of Warner Music Edgar Bronfman reportedly compared the current popularity of Guitar Hero to the launch of MTV and the Apple iPod.

"The amount being paid to the music industry, even though their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control, is far too small," he said.

Seriously! What a brilliant idea, up the price, meaning less people will buy the games or DLC and less money will go to Warner, smooth. If they kept it the same and released more content they would make plenty of money.

Hopefully the guys at Rock Band realise that they can just go to some of the fantastic unsigned bands all over the world and buy their songs for the game. Works out well for both parties.

Obviously a lot of people buy the games for the famous music, but personally i just like playing to a good song. Always liked the indie stuff Guitar Hero used to add to their playlists.

Having bought all of the Guitar hero III DLC for the PS3, I am angry at such a proposal. Isn't greed one of the main factors that cd singles no longer sell?
£1.33 oer track is far more expensive than the £0.79 I-tunes charge why charge us more?
On a seperate note Being a huge Blink 182 fan when will universal allow Activision to use the band's discography for a GH3 Download?
