Cryptic unveils gameplay trailer of upcoming MMO
After a slight technical hiccup which saw high web traffic bring the official site down, a host of details about the upcoming Star Trek Online have been unveiled by developer Cryptic Studios.
A new gameplay trailer has been posted on the Star Trek Online site, along with lots of other images and info snippets. The game will be set in 2409, 30 years after the most recent Hollywood outing Star Trek: Nemesis.
Cryptic’s Jack Emmert said yesterday at an LA Star Trek convention that the game will feature both ship and ground combat, with the former being “tactical and slow-paced” and the latter being higher tempo.
It has been confirmed that all players will have the chance to advance to Captain in-game, though it’s also been said that at release gamers will be able to play as either Star Fleet or Klingon Empire, with more races to follow later. The Borg feature substantially in much of the material released.
No release date has yet been announced, but Emmert added at the convention that the game will arrive “sooner than you think”.

Interesting
As a major Trek fan i Naturally started paying attention to this when it was first announced. I really disliked the direction Perpetual was taking and found it too much like the direction they tried with Enterprise.
I am more hopeful about Cryptic from what i have seen. I just hope the change the the Starfleet uniforms and improve the graphics quality so it isn't so Cartoony (yes i know it is early development still but they might have the cartoony design in mind).
I also hope the Borg are infrequent and actually a threat (e.g. Pre-Voyager).
Re: Interesting
what do you mean the borg wer'nt a threat in voyager (IMO the best star trek)
