Nintendo’s fitness title hits top spot for fourth time; Soul Calibur IV claims second
Nintendo has returned to the top of the charts with Wii Fit as the platform holder continues to rack up huge summer sales with Maro Kart Wii at three, Wii Play at five and Brain Training at ten.
Last week’s top seller Soul Calibur IV’s sales have dropped 24 per cent since last week, but it still manages to come in at number two.
Third-placed title Mario Kart Wii was boosted by an 11 per cent sales rise this week, while also on the up were THQ’s Big Beach Sports (up one place to four) and Activision Blizzard’s Guitar Hero III (up five places to number six).
So, this week’s top ten all-formats chart courtesy of ELSPA/ChartTrack is as follows:
1. Wii Fit (Nintendo)
2. Soul Calibur IV (Ubisoft)
3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo)
4. Big Beach Sports (THQ)
5. Wii Play (Nintendo)
6. Guitar Hero III (Activision Blizzard)
7. Guitar Hero: On Tour (Activision Blizzard)
8. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega)
9. Wall-E (THQ)
10. Dr Kawashima Brain Training (Nintendo)

Wii'll be lucky
FINALLY managed to get a copy by pure chance from Toys R Us. The sales assistant kept the tickets in his pocket so people weren't bulk buying and eBaying. Almost killed myself a few times with Yoga though (which kinda adds to the whole experience :D).
No suck luck if you are an Indie
I've just checked the Indie Chart figures fresh in this afternoon. Wii Fit does not even show in the Wii top 20.
What a great industry this is.
Re: No suck luck if you are an Indie
My local Newsagent is still getting 10 per week & we are getting 1 per fortnight from KOCH and thats it - Yep chris great industry !!!
Re: Re: No suck luck if you are an Indie
What amazes me is that it's not even that good. The mass market are easily pleased, I guess.
how not had any since day 1
how ? ony due to chain stores, indies shafted again, we have 3 stores and not had any from koch since day 1, had more from gem !!! work that out, nintendo prefered supplier, koch are garbadge !!

If ever there was a fad this is it (not necessarily the Wii in general, I've got one and there are some cracking games for it); but the balance board will be gathering dust under beds everywhere, along with the Thighmaster and other flash purchases.
C'mon people - 250€ for the console + 90€-100€ for the balance board; what's wrong with a plastic step and a VHS of Mr. Motivator?!?
@6
the wii is a fad.
Re: @6
While ist its exactly the same, your forefathers probably said the same of the wheel. ;)

Doh! While its not exactly the same, your forefathers probably said the same of the wheel. ;)

@ 9
I think comparing the Nintendo Wii to the wheel is a little far fetched. /lol ;)
Re: Re: Re: Re: @6
Okay, maybe fire then! lol
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: @6
Hehe, love the comments!! You guys crack me up!!
I'll tell ya now, Wii fit's are probably the hardest peripheral to get hold of even from top quality wholesalers like GEM.
GEM have been fantastic to our shop, I have had a few Wii fits off of them, so far I have had four Wii fits over the last couple of weeks and am really pleased with what I have had from GEM especially since the Wii fits are literally none-existent!!!! KUDOS TO GEM!!!!!

Everything. Especially the lycra.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: @6
I know, a grown man in fluorescent spandex is just wrong :-)
Then again, so is paying 90€ for the balance board only to realise that for more precision in the gameplay/controls, you'd be better off using a Gamecube controller...(mario kart, SSBB, etc)
P.s.
I can tell...you're a fan of "get fit with Lizzie" ;-)
