Publisher’s US boss confirms that dev legend still holds post at company

Sega of America CEO Simon Jeffery has clarified comments made this week over the reported departure of development stalwart Yu Suzuki from the company.

Jeffery has now corrected those stories, confirming that Yu Suzuki still holds a senior position at the company.

"I can safely say that Yu Suzuki is in fact still a Sega employee," said Jeffrey in a corrective statement given to Gamasutra. He confirmed that Suzuki "...is a Creative Officer of Sega Corp."

Suzuki’s last known credit was on Sega Race TV, a late 2007 arcade board-based racing title.

Will Sega and Yu Suzuki be making a conclusion to the Shenmue games?

I am so bored of Sega fans banging on about Shenmue 3, I'd actually like to see it get made and then canned, never to be released

As poorly as it sold, it still remains one of the most deep and engaging video games stories ever told. Imagine if Tolkien hadn't written the last in the Lord of the Rings trilogy (and before any smart arses come along, I know that he wrote them all at once) and you'll get an idea of why gamers want the last one to come out...
