Nordic distributor launches new label for PS2, Wii, DS and PC
Game Outlet Europe, perhaps best known for its pallet-based distribution business, has revealed plans to diversify its business with a brand new publishing arm, Nordic Games.
With a launch plan targeting the budget and mid-priced market, the publisher will evolve beyond that as part of a longer-term strategy, according to its owners.
However, Nordic Games will initially produce titles for the PS2, Wii, DS and PC formats, and currently has five projects in development across 11 different SKUs.
The current boom in video games made the expansion possible, according to Nordic Games publishing director, Pelle Lundborg: “This is an exciting time for the group, and with the huge expansion of the market we feel it is the right time to enter the publishing business.”
Inviting US and Japanese publishing partners to contact the firm, Lundborg described the ethos behind Nordic Games: “Being Swedish, we have adopted the IKEA philosophy, which means every product we do will aim to give consumers great quality and value, at tremendous prices.”
