Three for £10 on pre-owned PS2, Xbox and GameCube titles; new 360 bundle unleashed
GAME has slashed prices on last generation software in the run up to the Bank Holiday weekend.
Previously-owned Xbox, GameCube and selected PS2 titles can be bought in packs of three for just £10, with one GAME store manager telling MCV that they’re clearing shelf space in time for the Christmas period.
GAME.co.uk has also unveiled two special Bank Holiday bundle deals for the Xbox 360 60GB Premium. Gamers who purchase the 60GB machine will receive either GTA IV and Medal of Honor Airborne, or The Simpsons Game and Beijing 2008, for free.

not great
blockbuster been doing 4 4 10 on xbox, ps2 for ages and there sale on new 360, wii and ps3 is really good too, lot of games at a tenner (prologue is one of them on ps3), I know game are the top dog in the industry but blockies are suprising me
Re: not great
As a previous employee of Game, I can tell you this is not a new promotion, it's been done before.
Re: Re: not great
How can they offer 3 for £10 on GameCube titles, when they asked all thier stores to send all NGC software to a single shop in South Wales...???
Re: Re: Re: not great
Hmmmm
Gamestation started 4 for £10 years ago on last gen and already do 4 for £20 on XB 360 with some bargain AAA titles to be picked up.
Everytime I have been into Blockies they have had naff all of any of the titles they advertise anyway so I never shop there now.
Re: Re: Re: Re: not great
@2: Maybe they have done it before but the point is to let other retailers that the are currently doing this. They need to know to adjust for a possible decrease in demand if everyone goes to Game to buy a particular title etc
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not great
re blockies .
there is a difference between you local blockies and the blockbuster games stores of which there are 6o ish they were all gamestation stores before and hold loads of stock. i price checked loads recently and got a better trade in price and the games i bought were the same price as gs and game.
and why does a rubbish sale at game justify a article at mcv is it a dry week for stories its hardly ground breaking when everyone else does 4,4,10.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not great
Gamestation will not be beaten on trade-ins. If you find a better price elsewhere they will beat it by a pound.
May not seem a lot but if you have 20 titles that are better trade in prices elsewhere then go to gamestation and you will gain an extra £20. This is what it say on their leaflets anyway.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not great
Blockbuster also offer a guarantee of £1 more on trade-ins than any other competitor so this is not a reason to go to Gamestation.
I always shop at Blockbuster. They always price new release XB360 and PS3 titles at 39.99 (not 44.99 like Game and Gamestation) and you can get any chart game for 14.99 when you trade in 1 of a huge selection of games. There pre-owned offers are also much better.
Game and GS get too much coverage in MCV. There are guys out there trying to break the stranglehold of this Company so c'mon MCV stop being a PR tool for this group and giving them publicity for offers that are worse than those in other retailers... or is Lisa Morgan a shareholder???
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not great
haha but you have to be a member of Blockies to get that and i don't want to join them as they are crap. they have no knowledge of games are rude, there stores are dirty and old. I can also say that the game and gamestation i shop in never price their new releases at more than 39.99 anymore.
Also for the future there are so many bonuses to buying from Game/Gamestation. They are getting the locus splatter hear figure when you Pre-Order there.
I know where i want to shop and no-one elses opinion is going to change that. At the end of the day we are all entitled to shop where we want.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not great
As a Blockbuster Games staff member (and former Blockbuster staff member) your wrong m8 you don't have 2b a member to take advantage of any trade offers at Blockbusters stores, and at the end of the day a free figure at gamestation, who really cares? are you gonna play with your free figure, more than your new game?
And I frequently check the price's in Game and Gamestation stores in my area and they are more expensive than Blockbuster and Blockbuster Games, and even more expensive than HMV and Zavvi at times.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not great
IS THIS REALLY NEWS????
Calm Down People
I can't believe all this chatter over GAME. Anyone should know by now that shopping at GAME isn't the cheapest place to get your games, and any fools who still go there to buy new or 2nd hand could do A LOT better going elsewhere!
Re: Calm Down People
well most people probably complain but to be fair now that blockies are on track and have buckled up, we pretty much are beating GS and Game. Im a former GS employee and a BB Games employee, even though I wish he got more limited edition copies of games like GS and Game do but generally we have buckled up and are thrasing the price socks off GS and Game (no wonder they keep ringing us up to check or trade and retail prices so they can price match but we never need to ring them ^_^)
Re: Re: Calm Down People
hmmm i think your a little bit blinkered by being a BB Games enployee. True you have had a couple of competitive prices lately but what did your margin look like on those titles? Given BB's rocky financial fortunes how long can you continue with that strategy? Just to clarify the GS GOW2 pre-order offer is a splatter head figure and a lifesize cogtag. What true GOW fan wouldnt want to wear that with pride?
Re: Re: Re: Calm Down People
you answered your own question, none, there arent many TRUE gears of war fans out there, the cogtags are cheap and the head figure speaks for itself (a complete joke)
are margins are pretty big compared to GS and to be fair BBG isnt in any rocky financial problems as you claim to writing (where are your facts of any financial problems, cause you cant compare BBV to BBG as there managed differently in terms of profits)
Anyway back to article like I said originally the offers of x amount for £10 on those older games have been around for ages (answer to dude who said GS have 2 4 20 on 360, BBG have 2 4 18, 5 4 25, 2 4 28, 2 4 38 on all formats whilst 4 4 10 only on ps2, xbox, pc)
Blockbuster is underated and overlooked for games
I visited BBG recently and was very surprised by the wide range and the cheap prices, Almost all the games and console Second hand were cheaper than GS. when i think of Blockbuster i don't tend to think of games but they are big players but i thin they are overlooked, i will be checking there more often. Also this is not a new thing for BB
who got motorstorm or resistance on ps3 at launch there for £35 when everywhere else was £45
Re: Blockbuster is underated and overlooked for games
First... Sega Megadrive Vs Nintendo.
Second... Playstation Vs Xbox.
Now.. Blockbuster Games Vs Game/Gamestation.
Grrrrrrr.
LOL, people REALLY need to grow up. Who cares on how much you save when it's only a couple of quid here and there.
If you can trade at BBG then do it, if you prefer to do it at Game/Gamestation then so what?
Re: Re: Blockbuster is underated and overlooked for games
For god sake. LISTEN, LISTEN AND FOR THE LAST F**KING TIME, LISTEN.
This story is for retailers. This story is for retailers, who need to know what their competition is doing.
If you're just a regular gamer, then understand this. This is a video games site for video games retailers and everyone else in the trade – publishers, developers, distributors etc. Therefore any story on a sale by a competitor is extremely important.
In the same way, any retailers whinging should be grateful that MCV is bringing this to your attention. When I read this, I didn't start whinging. I sent one of my staff down to the local store to go and find out which games they have on sale; then either priced them accordingly or adjusted my stock intake to account for the probably lowering of demand for those titles.
I don't know how many times people like me, people who have a chain of seven video games store and makes £500,000 plus in profits a year has to say this. If you're a one store indie, struggling to make ends meat, it's probably because your whinging about stories like this, instead of looking at ways to compete.
Re: Re: Re: Blockbuster is underated and overlooked for games
Completely agree, BrettStocks. This is a site for retailers, so Hnbeanz and all you other 'non video game retailers', take you're inccessant whining back to CVG. It's not wanted here.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Blockbuster is underated and overlooked for game
Brettstocks.
You sound like you want a big round of applause for having 7 shops, Well done, good for you, keep it up.
Again, this is free country, If you wish to debate anything then you can. If people wish to discuss blockbuster, then they can, if people wish to discuss Game then they can.
MCV is, and i quote 'MCV is the leading trade news and community site for all professionals working within the UK and international video games market.'
It is not just for retailers, it is for everybody!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Blockbuster is underated and overlooked for
@ BrettStocks and Starwars
I've been working in retail for over 20 years (and 15 of those in games), so Brettstocks & Starwars, don't just assume you know any better because you work in the industry. I certainly don't.
I've been involved with MCV since it was a printed publication and was delivered to my store on a weekly/monthly basis (not sure it still is). Brettstocks, you like to shout (and swear) about how many stores you own. Well done (*mock applause*)... Have I heard of you?
Look at my previous post before you pass comment. I was having a light hearted moment on how the post turned from what it originally was into another 'Vs' debate.

"...working within the UK and international video games market".
If you don't do that ^^^, you're on the wrong site...simple.
It's time this site went with user registrations and verified email addresses from genuine companies. like The Chaos Engine
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Blockbuster is underated and overloo
For HNBeanz...
We still do a weekly printed publication - and it's better than ever! Drop me a mail on tim.ingham@intentmedia.co.uk with your name, store and location and we'll probably be able to sort you a free subscription.
Cheers,
Tim
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Blockbuster is underated and ove
do I get a free subscription too tim????
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Blockbuster is underated and
Blockies raped all of Gamestations preowned know how when they owned them. They knew piss all about games till they bought GS they raped them and dumped them when they had there fill.
