Brighter screen means less battery life for new model, says SCEA’s Koller
A video interview with GameSpot SCEA’s director of hardware marketing John Koller has revealed that the new model has a shorter battery life than its predecessor.
"Battery life will decrease by a small amount; it's material, but it's about 20 minutes, maybe 30 minutes,” said Koller. “And that's because there's a little bit of a larger power draw with the brighter screen.”
The new handheld is set to go on sale on October 15th for £149.99.

As much as love the PSP the battery life is appalling as it is compared to some other handhelds, the last thing it needs is a drop in playing time...

no the battery life of the PSP is fine....as long as you use the car adapor and strap a car battery to your back :D

They could also increase battery life buy making the psp run game from a memory card, they own the Duo brand.
I bet it would cost them less to put games on memory stick, speed up load times, you could download movies on to Duo as well.
