EA’s golfing franchise debuts at the top of the Gfk ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 for the first time
Few will be surprised to see EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’09 head straight to the top of the Gfk ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 this week – but most will be surprised to hear that’s the first time the Tiger has debuted in the top spot.
Ten years on from the first outing for the series, this latest version enjoys the biggest launch week ever for EA’s golf series, with Xbox 360 just edging out PS3 as the format of choice claiming 33 per cent of sales compared to Sony’s 32 per cent. Wii claimed 28 per cent of the sales with the remaining 7 per cent split between PS2 and PSP.
The success marks EA’s fifth week at number one this year, and the first since Army of Two in March. And with the likes of Need for Speed: Undercover and FIFA 09 still to come, it is unlikely to be the last.
Elsewhere in the listings, Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit drop to second and third places respectively, whilst strong sales of 2K Play’s Carnival: Funfair Games on DS see the compilation climb to fourth spot, ahead of Wii play at number five.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 exclusive Too Human manages to reach number eight in its first week on sale.

Tiger Woods 09
I would be interested where Tiger Woods 09 came in the Indie charts as Tiger Woods 09 has been very poor. ASDA were selling this game cheaper than centresoft (EA) were selling it to Indies. In previous years we, as an Indie, sold between 60-100 on each format. Tiger Woods 09 we sold 2 on PS3 & 5 on 360. In our area this is as a direct result of Asda now being cheaper than our suppliers.
Looks like Asda will now our preferred supplier for all EA stock as I am sure that Fifa 09 & Need for Speed will be cheaper at ASDA than Centresoft (EA). Still we shouldn't really complain as they will eventually TRade it In with us & we can then sell it PRE_OWNED & actually make a profit. It is obvious to me now whilst writing this email that Publishers & Distributors actually do not mind the Pre-Owned market else why would they condone ASDA & the like to sell AAA rated games cheaper than them HAPPY DAYS !!!!!!!!
Re: Tiger Woods 09
Look at the price Arogs are selling Fifa 09 at on PS3/360. £34.99!
How much do centresoft want!
Re: Re: Tiger Woods 09
