Tecmo’s most famous dev studio is still active despite the acrimonious departure of Tomonobu Itagaki
Following the bombastic departure of acclaimed developer Tomonobu Itagaki from Tecmo’s Team Ninja, many had thought the studio to be destined for disbandment – but news has emerged that not only is it alive and kicking, but it has an impressive three titles in the works.
Team member Jin Hasegawa is now in charge of development at Team Ninja.
Kotaku reports that the studio will reveal its three titles at next month’s Tokyo Games Show. Little is known of the games, though it is said that one, that has been developed with Western markets in mind, is due out next year and will be of a genre new to the studio.
The developments come as Team ninja owners Tecmo announced both its rejection of a takeover offer from Square Enix and subsequently its intention to merge with Koei.
