10 million and counting for Activision-Blizzard’s market-dominating MMO
The recent success of titles such as Eidos’ Age of Conan and Codemasters’ Lord of the Rings Online had lead some to speculate that long-term market leader World of Warcraft is on the wane – not so, according to its developer.
Speaking to VG247 at Games Convention, Blizzard’s lead designer for upcoming World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King Tom Chilton said of the game’s userbase: “It’s actually still growing. It’s certainly not in a reverse trend, or anything like that.
“I do expect that with the launch of Lich King it will probably affect the subscription numbers.”
The anticipated expansion is yet to be dated, but many ar still hoping for a pre-Christmas arrival.
