Yes and they've a bad reputation when it comes to hardware reliability. I wonder what the ratio will be when it come to 'units shipped' vs 'units returned'?

What the hell do you expect? If you're an early adopter, then you're always going to pay top dollar for any new technology. The video games industry is far from alone in this practise. Almost every product category has this.

different price points will get different customers purchasing!!

£299.99 18/35 males+dolers+chavs
£199.99 poor students+familys+female gamers
£99.99 familys causal family gamers who want to play singstar buzz etc.

come on there are so many fan boys in the US, its about the brand not the games or the console, sony and nintendo are bigger in the east, as the companies are embraced by the people, if u buy a console early you know it will drop in price, but i also feel a lack of confidence from ms, whats next ? halo 4 on a new xbox console end of next year, with all 360 games not working on the new console ?? ms are very quick to move on i feel

yes im not stupid although if your unaware of a price cut and a month later there is one, this does leave a bitter taste, never mind a price cut i want live for free as its so laggy,

its great that sales are up, this must mean that repairs will increase, i cant tell you how many upset and angry parents i had in my store last xmas, when their kids 360 red lights after 2 days, the console is just not reliable at all,
i want to make a living, selling all formats, but i dont want endless returns, it looks even worse when im trying to sell a new 360 and a customer brings one back very angry talking to me other member of staff about it,
its very negative on a whole.

Looks to me like all the console that are easily cracked are the ones selling well. DS, PSP, Wii. Piracy is ruling this gen as well. Nintendo don't mind as they are actually making money from the hardware. You've got to hand it to Nintendo really - Great strategy.

@Kay: The new 360 chip set does seem more robust. Falcon was after Christmas, so that may explain the high failure rates you got. Hopefully the new Jasper will make RROD a thing of the past. Should be out any day now. (Doesn't help you with old stock though).

Are you mad? the only reason the xbox got discontinued so early was their beef with nvidia, hence why they went with ati for a gpu this time.
And I'm 99% sure they will use another ati one for the next console in a few years so that every 360 game will work on it.

At least they didnt piut about how big a fans of BC they were then screwed over consumers for this to save themselves the money.

BC is nothing, i dont want to play fifa 02 i want to play fifa 09 on the new console, bc is BS mate, even if you have a massive collection used ps2's are £40 ! if u want to play ps3 games buy a p3, if you want to play 360 buy 360. bc is a drop in the ocean and not important

I've been searching for a website lately; a website which has articles that aren't raped by console extremists.

This website has more of the same. I guess they're everywhere now days. Anything mentioned in an article that supports the Xbox 360 and Sony fans will bash it into the ground. And I mean all of them. Xbox fans bash as well - no doubts there; but there are 3 times as many "anti-Xbox" comments as there are "anti-PS3" comments on most gaming websites.

I don't own a next-gen console yet, but I would sure as hell get a 360 before a PS3. Sony's fanbase doesn't seem to have any genuine gamers, only haters.

I've been feeling the same way lately. You can't go to a site anymore and get any type of decent discussion about games because these fools just ruin everything with their hateful, exaggerated, gibberish.

Two weeks ago everyone was complaining that the 360 needed a price cut and then when it does everyone complains that they're screwing the customer. Did these same people say the same after the PS3 dropped $100 in price in just a few months, I wonder? I somehow doubt it.

I think a lot of these guys have some insecurity issues if they're that worried about one console outselling another.

i own both consoles and their idiots on both to be honest, very annoying people on xbox live, kids singing down the mic, angry americans calling brits cheaters and say we use mods if we beat them, same for ps3, its just down to games, fan boys all secretly worry that the console they hate is actually better than the one they would die for,
so long as all formats sell its good, im afraid there are idiots in all walks of life to suggest that the ps3 fans are worse than the xbox fans is just pigeon holing people,you can just make sweeping statements like that

i agree there are even websites who review all games that are funded by a certain games company who seem very very bias towards 1 platform, and i find this the worst crime of all, reviews that are one sided, more exposure to one platforms franchise than any other item, this is not a blanced site for any potential new gamer,

its now as bad as ign, gametrailers and all other forum sites, too many fans and not enough game stores on here,
