Activision boss details the ways in which he believes his title has one-over on EA’s rival
The High Street battle currently raging between long-time gaming favourite Guitar Hero and plucky newcomer Rock Band is one of the more ferocious in today’s industry – and now Activision boss Bobby Kotick has detailed the many reasons why he believes his firm’s title has the upper hand.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia XVII Conference, Kotick stated: “We’re outselling Rock Band 6:1. When you think about the access we have to 30 per cent of the world’s music at Universal, we have a unique advantage there.
“I would also say when you look at resources, you know, our next-nearest competitor has a couple of hundred people working on these projects, we have close to 2000 people just dedicated to the Guitar Hero note tracking, introduction of new hardware, introduction of new software, and so we just have a lot more in the way of resources available to us to continue to dominate the category.”
Thanks Kotaku.

Money matter..
It's simply because of cost, RB is far too expensive with all the instruments. I bought it all, don't get me wrong, But the public won't spend that kind of money on a game. Although it's twice as fun as Guitar hero.
Also...
Activision may have 30% access to all the music out there, But they are not using this to their "advantage" as Kotick says. Harmonix release songs week in, week out. Which is more than i can say for Activision. They need to push on with this, and really gain the "advantage".
Re: Also...
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Rockband deserves to fail. Even the PS3/PS2 & Wii versions are a rip-off. The drums look like a Fisher Price toy for the under 3's.
And the Wii version is just a PS2 port - the worlds biggest casual console gets screwed for one of the apparently biggest casual games.
Re: Re: Also...
RB rules. When the price comes down, which it will, we shall look again at who is selling the most units :-)
Re: Re: Re: Also...
I'm willing to bet that when Activision release GH4 with all its additional instruments they are cheaper than whatever price RB is selling at. They have a much longer standing relationship with the peripheral companies for this product, have the advantage of seeing where EA may have got things wrong, and can do bundles that don't have the guitar if you already own this. Bring it on I say. Looking forward to singing Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" at the top of my voice. :)
Re: Re: Re: Re: Also...
Hey FlyingScotsman who do you think started the guitar hero franchise? Harmonix the developers of RB.
Now when activision says its outselling RB 6:1 is that counting GH 1, 2, and 3?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Also...
lets just say that I have a very good idea what the SRP for GH4 in the UK will be and I think most people will not be happy
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Also...
of course they won't be happy, because activision ain't stupid they know people well pay the silly price they did for rock band and to be honest giving they have a good brand name behind them i'd say will charge a little more!
rock band deserve's to win but i don't care because i'm going to buy both because both are going to be excellent games.
what that 6:1 ratio doesn't state is thats counting 2 games harmonix made a 3rd game and all the spins offs like aerosmith if they picked just number 3 for instance i bet the ratio wouldn't swing in their favour!
