Mirror’s Edge dated

EA confirms to MCV that Mirror’s Edge will arrive in the UK on November 14th

Much-hyped DICE title Mirror’s Edge has been confirmed for release on November 11th in the US, and November 14th in the UK.

The first-person action title will hit PS3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously, with a PC SKU scheduled for ‘later in the winter’. A demo of the EA-published release will appear on Live and PSN prior to launch.

“Mirror's Edge is bringing something new to the action-adventure genre this holiday by putting the player in the shoes of the hero, seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels," said DICE senior producer Owen O’Brien.

“We wanted to create an entirely new experience, with a different type of heroine and a world that not only looks fresh and new but has unique gameplay.”

every ea game the rep goes mad about claiming is amazing has bombed..burnout..facebreaker etc so the fact he said that this would be awesome and also dead space has meant i ordered 50 less of each its a simple but effective way of knowing how good there games are.

Also isn't this the same release date as COD5? I'd imagine I'm not the only one who will plump for the latest Call of Duty title over this.

I can’t wait to do some more QA testing on EA games I’m getting bored with Mercenaries 2! I think I found 72 bugs, or as those supposed to be achievements?

Either way good for those who are looking for some experience as games testers!

Welcome to whiners central everyone...
@1: Let's look at some recent games... GTAIV, RRP £49.99, SWFU, RRP £49.99, Mercenaries 2, RRP £49.99. Only 1 of those games is an EA release, yet every one of them has the same RRP... FaceBreaker, RRP £39.99, now which company released FaceBreaker again?
@3: Perhaps you can quote the sales figures for those titles which you claim "have bombed". Or do you mean that nobody bought them from your shop? If you believe sales are representative of a game's quality, then you're obviously one of the many misguided retailers who can't actually tell good from bad. MGS4 sold millions, I think that explains it quite adequately. People will buy any over-hyped, sub-standard games, especially when retailers are trying to convince them "it's a great game" when all they are interested in is sales figures.
@4: Actually, you're probably not but many of us are sick to the back teeth of unimaginative, re-hashed FPS shooters. As developers, some of us still appreciate a game appearing with a very evident creative spark at its core. You keep supporting those sequels though, that'll encourage devs to be creative... oh wait!
@5: I'd be interested to see that bug list... if it exists. And then, you could provide a list of (in your opinion) bug-free games.
I think this section has proved the absolute ignorance that exists outside the games industry. Put a publisher logo on a game and suddenly, they are responsible for the code that gets written. By blindly (and ignorantly) slagging off the publisher, you are damaging the reputation of every developer signed under that publisher. And more amazingly, you people have the stupidity to do it on one of the few websites developers come to... it being a site for the games industry and all.
So if you want to be ignorant and spout damaging nonsense, do it on a site where it's expected, IGN, Gamespot. Nobody cares what's written on there, because we expect it to be that way.

well i can understand your frustration and the reason you felt you needed to write an essay on this topic, I just think that the constant pressure from retailers is the only thing being vented here, with the slim chance dist may read and take on board, i tell my problems to each dist myself and they do try to be flexable where they can, its not normally their fault. however i do feel that activison and EA are very over priced, and each year fifa comes and sells by the bucket but it doesnt seem a great deal better each year.
now please RRP since when does ANY ONE sell at this price aside from over prices game / gamestation, i wish everyone did sell at this price then there wouldnt be an issue here for me.

i like the idea of EA looking to freshen up the fps genre which is now saturated, but with a high price tag and constant lost leaders selling at cost price, my figures have dipped alot with all dist, this is sheer fact, maybe publishers dont care and only want to deal with multiples, fair enough, id like to work more with dist, but im finding myself buying from other retailers more, just due to price.

i play all of the games that come into my shop but being as nobody is happy to send us beta copies to make a proper decision we have to go by gossip and the reps. so of course we are going to go for titles we know are going to sell. and as for your point lee c about not all titles being developed by ea just published maybe they should realise that if you put your name on a turd whether you made it or not to a consumer you are the company associated. hence why ea is getting hate currently.
maybe if the developers came to retail for an opinion we would build the hype for them on a good game and new ip instead they give us nothing to work with until 3 days before release.

@LeeC

How dare you question and cover up the fact that Mercenaries 2 is not a bug ridden product and EA had nothing to do with it and should not be held accountable. Out of those 72 bugs many were very minor and if you want to see the full list please visit Pandemics forum bug thread where I posted mine, which has now reached 1341 posts long. A few bugs in my opinion broke my game wasting my money and ruining my enjoyment and experience. For example no AI shooting me, not being able to do all side missions when the main story was completed, to name a few.

(I commend Pandemic’s forum for listening, And wait for patch’s and content in anticipation!)

Rather than give Pandemic more time to clean and QA the title of which EA does QA and compliance too, EA churned the marketing monster to the extent that my 70 year dad phones me up from France and goes have you herd about this game! Marketing is not an issues, but spending loads on that rather than quality and yes EA and you too LeeC are the real idiots! I guess having so many waivers for TRC/TCR’s helps when needing to releases a title quickly and essentially unfinished! EA published titles have a habit of being full of bugs or just really feeling unfinished, as a consumer I’ve been burnt many times by EA titles, and am sure many others have too!

“By blindly (and ignorantly) slagging off the publisher.”

There’s nothing blind and ignorant about what I said, just fact and reality from a consumer perspective that a mega publisher constantly and is consistently happy to release bug ridden titles and then have the cheek to slowlly fix issues over the lenght of a franchise, now EA if your are not aware of this fact then you EA and you Mr.LeeC are the blind and ignorant people!

“Put a publisher logo on a game and suddenly, they are responsible for the code that gets written.”

YES YOU ARE!
