Publisher tells MCV of 'biggest ever pre-order incentive' for new Guitar Hero

Activision UK has announced “the biggest pre-order incentive the industry has ever seen” as it gears up for November’s anticipated release of Guitar Hero World Tour.

Gamers who pre-order the ‘super bundle’ – containing the game, drum kit, guitar and microphone – will receive a free Guitar Hero bass guitar, which currently retails for approximately £50.

“This programme signals our enormous commitment to Guitar Hero World Tour,” Activision’s marketing director for the UK and Ireland David Tyler told MCV.

“Consumers who pre-order the Guitar Hero World Tour ‘super bundle’ from any retailer – either online, or in-store – will bag a bonus bass guitar.

“This is a significant investment to reward our loyal fans, ensuring the full band experience is available from the off. With demand likely to far outstrip supply, pre-ordering is the only way to assure a copy at launch.”

The title is available for pre-order now from all major retailers, with the ‘super bundle’ available for around £150 for most online stores.

World Tour will be available on PS3, 360, Wii and PS2 in several SKU configurations – the game and new guitar (with touch-sensitive neck-bar slide); the drums; and the ‘super bundle’ (game, new guitar, drums and microphone).

The game will be included in the guitar bundle and the super bundle, unlike Rock Band where consumers have to buy it separately.

While the publisher has yet to confirm a solid release date, it told MCV it is aiming for an ‘early November’ timeslot.

Most sites are saying 14th November as a release date. Mirrors Edge, COD5 and GH 4. Busy Busy Busy.

Is this the first instance of a game costing more than the console it will be played on (in the case of the 360 version)?

I believe this is a wired guitar.

I guess its just the same as the GH III guitars (no touch slider bit). I could be wrong.

If you already have a GH III then where is the incentive.
