LittleBigPlanet online features to arrive post-launch

Multiplayer Create mode to be added at a later date via developer patch

Speaking on the US PlayStation blog, a member of the Media Molecule development team has confirmed that LittleBigPlanet’s online Create mode, which allows players to work together on the creation of user-made levels, will not be available out of the box.

Instead, the anticipated functionality will be added to the title some time after release via a patch.

The statement, which appeared on the US PlayStation Blog's forums, reads:  “The ability to create with your friends online will come as part of the first major update after the game is released. Offline creating with up to four people on one PS3, however, is available right from the get go.

“The next question will undoubtedly be ‘when is the first update due’ and right now there is no specific time set at the moment, however with the game having gone gold, the team at Media Molecule are already hard at work on content for the game after its release, with online multiplayer creating top of the list.”

Oh come on Sony for f*** sake. What the hell is this!

Another half finished game release! Honestly, I really thought Sony had turned the corner.

Why the hell dioes this make the game half finished?
This is a bonus that no other game offers, and quite frankly is going to be hard to implement.
All the other online features are there, playing a level with for friends, chatting to them etc etc etc.
It is almost as if people have been waiting to complain about this game....sheesh

No. . . This is NOT a bonus.
It was the unique selling point of this game.
It was part of this game that Sony has been promoting at every event.
This is very disappointing.

@3

I dont think thats what these guys are saying.

Its about waiting for ages for a game to come out and then having the developer/publisher effectively tell you that some of the stuff they wanted to have in the game wont be ready in time if they want to ship before Christmas.

So they'll ship without it then give it to you later, providing you're online.

I wouldnt say its 'unacceptable' but its certainly not a good idea to release info like this BEFORE the game has been released.

Ok....yeah they have been pushing this feature.
But is it all that important. for one I will be learning to create and playing through the pre-made levels.
Yes it is a bit disappointing but at leasy Sony was upfront and admitted before the game ships that its not going to be included at launch.

The issue is with moderating UGC, they could be in for some of the worst press ever in the world once gigantic phallus shaped levels and swear-word blighted textures begin turning up on children's PS3s.

I wonder if this feature will ever see the light of day.

"right now there is no specific time set… "

That sure sounds like a cancelled feature to me.

User generated content will still be able to be uploaded to the servers.
Its just the online co-operative level creating that is coming later, and since the game has gone gold I would be surprised if MM is already working on it.

I can imagine the developers are under alot of pressure to get this out before xmas, and the whole gaming world is looking at this one, so I'm not surprised this is going to ship with some bits being delievered later.

Don't own a PS3 but really looking forward to to this one finally up and running
