UK CHART: Force Unleashed hits No.1

Star Wars licence ends EA's recent dominance – as Nintendo software climbs

Electronic Arts’ recent dominance of the official UK Chart has come to an end – as LucasArts’ Star Wars: The Force Unleashed crashes straight into top spot.

In the biggest ever release week for a Star Wars game, 48 per cent of sales were on Xbox 360, with 30 per cent on PS3, making it the tenth fastest-selling title ever for each format.

The Wii version accounted for 15 per cent of sales with the remainder on PS2, PSP and DS – leaving it the biggest all-formats launch since GTA IV.

Elsewhere in the ChartTrack/ELSPA Top 40, it is a good week for Nintendo, with Wii Fit jumping three places to No.2 – dislodging EA’s Tiger Woods’ PGA Tour 09, which drops to No.5.

Last week’s No.1, EA’s Mercenaries 2: World In Flames, tumbles from the summit, down to sixth position.

Better news for EA comes from its PC-only release Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning, which jumps straight into fourth place. However, the firm’s Spore falls from No.30 to No.10 in just its second week.

Nintendo’s success continues as Mario Kart Wii bounds up from No.6 to No.3 and Wii Play moves up from No.7 to No.10.

The full top ten reads:

1) Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – LucasArts
2) Wii Fit – Nintendo
3) Mario Kart Wii – Nintendo
4) Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning – EA
5) Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 – EA
6) Mercenaries 2: World In Flames – EA
7) Wii Play – Nintendo
8) Carnival: Funfair Games – 2K Play
9) TNA Impact! – Midway
10) Spore – EA

Great to hear that wii play has moved up from No. 7 to No. 10.

Its gone up in the charts whilst still dropping 3 places according to your report

Might be worth changing that.

fake top ten!!

because a lot of these games are being given away free, with bundles at GAME and gamesration
mario kart
wii play
carnival of games

really does any sell 50+ units of carnival on wii! answer no....... its a year old......

and again wii fit not in the top 20 games, in the indie chart.
why? not enough stock... yet every one else gets regular stock...... somethings never change!

@2

Also "spore fell from number 30 to number 10 in it second week," does this mean it climbed from 30 to ten or did it fall from 3 to 10.

Great news that TNA still in chart for second week.
