Biggest ever Xbox spend announced

Mass-market push will cost more than original Xbox, 360 and Halo 3 promotions

Microsoft's Xbox 360 is getting a massive casual games marketing push in the US - just days after the company revealed to MCV that it would be spending tens of millions on widespread marketing for the console in the UK.

I had a huge feeling this was going to happen. Good luck to them. I reckon the UK may fall head over heels about these "avatars", and with the 360 being cheaper than the Wii.

It could fail miserably for them, But somehow I can see MS being very happy come the end of this year, and the beginning of next.

Can you really see the Xbox outselling the Wii this Xmas? Given the prices I know it makes sense, but can you really see it happening?

No, I can't see it outselling the Wii Chris, But that's not to say it won't sell loads.

More gaming adverts on mainstream Tv can only be a good thing for the whole industry.

Rightly or wrongly, the mainstream press still sideline gaming as a male/loner/geek pursuit.
We all know that isn't true! and recent studies have shown 95% of all USA kids play console games. (I think the split was 95 female, 98 Male - but i could be wrong). Hopefully increased advertising revenues will change some minds.

I hope Sony also up their advertising game. Although I do get the feeling that they do not think it necessary.

Could be one hell of a Christmas!
