Microsoft’s console outsells rival machine for the second week running
The Xbox 360’s Japanese resurgence is seemingly far from over with news that the machine has outsold Sony’s PS3 for the second week running in Japan – though both consoles are still lagging far behind the handheld market.
Edge Online reports that 360 shifted 13,777 units in the week ending September 21st, a fair chunk ahead of PS3’s 8,156 sales, though Sony’s machine has significantly closed the gap it suffered in the previous week’s listings.
The DS Lite was the overall winner, however, shifting 61,242 machines, far ahead of fellow Nintendo console Wii, which enjoyed sales of 29,921. The PSP sold 28,674 units in the period and the PS2 7,720.

Come on Sony, a nice little price cut would be great about now, whats a few billion more lost on the budget sheet? You can afford it!

Commendable but I wouldn't get too carried away.
When Final Fantasy XIII launches exclusively on PS3 in Japan at Christmas, PS3 will outsell the 360 once again - and probably by a wide margin.

Do you think the lack of success of the ps3 is due to the too-strong ps2 ?
And also, many people may not have the full hd screen necessary to exploit the ps3 to the maximum...
In some years, the ps3 will be the perfect console, with a large selection of probably very impressive games, but it will be too late.
