WHAT’S NEW – October 3rd ‘08

MCV’s look at all the titles scheduled to hit UK retail this Friday

October is nearly here, and along with the official arrival of autumn and the hideousness of travelling home from work in the dark, it also means that Q4 has arrived – and with it comes an explosion in the activity in the games release schedules.

At least that’s the plan. It’s actually a relatively quiet week in terms of new releases – aside, of course, from a little title called FIFA 09. We’re told that it’s about a sport called football, and that this sport is allegedly quite popular in Europe. We’re also told that for many retailers FIFA is the single most important release of the year.

The beautiful game aside, Nintendo has yet another treat lined up for DS owners in the shape of the latest instalment in its popular Phoenix Wright series, Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations. Other Nintendo-platform highlights include the EA pair of MySims Kingdom on Wii and puzzler Zubo on DS.

Konami is also readying the latest instalments in its globally popular Dancing Stage series on both 360 and PS2. They are joined by the PC version of Ubisoft’s Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway and Sony’s PSN content bundle PlayStation Network Collection Puzzle on PSP.

Full Release Schedule for October 3rd (taken from MCV’s constantly updated online release schedule):

Tired roll outs pandering the lowest common denomenator and grand parents who have bought little johnny playstation the same thing for the last 12 years, but would really prefer PES but granma thinks anything with the evo in is glue.

I think I'll keep a toy shop tycoon and try to recapture happier days.
