Wii to get dedicated Speak Channel

Device bundled with new Animal Crossing to work with new friends-only voice communication software

Alongside news of a new DS, a dedicated online content system and GameCube re-releases for the Wii, Nintendo has now confirmed that it is to launch a new Wii Speak Channel, Kotaku reports.

The free software will allow users equipped with the upcoming Wii Speak device, which comes bundled with Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City, to voice chat with friends on Nintendo’s wi-fi network.

When in use, players will be represented by their Mii’s, which will mimic the vocals of the user.

The Wii Speak hardware will be available as a standalone package in North America on November 16th and will retail for $29.99. There’s no word yet on the European release date.
