MCV’s look at all the titles scheduled to hit UK retail this Friday
With FIFA 09 likely to top the charts for quite some time (well, at least until October 24th) it’s not surprising to see that most publishers have shied away from unleashing their big releases this week.
One notable exception is Fracture, LucasArts’ first original IP in quite some time. On the surface it’s appears to be a fairly standard third person sci-fi shooter, but its use of ‘terrain deformation’ differentiates it from the crowd, and it could well appeal to the next-gen market.
Joining Fracture will be possibly the favourite to challenge FIFA 09 at the top of the charts next week, Warner Bros' LEGO Batman. The previous Star Wars and Indiana Jones outings for Travellers Tales' LEGO franchise have performed brilliantly at retail, and with 2008 having already been dubbed 'the year of The Bat', there's every reason to expect LEGO Batman to do the same - but will it be enough to topple FIFA?
Elsewhere EA releases NBA Live 09 across a number of formats, whilst Midway readies the Wii version of its recent wrestling hit TNA Impact. The interesting musical synthesizer package KORG DS-10 also hits stores this Friday, and is likely to command some attention from more specialist parts of the market.
Also look out for a PC release for Koei’s Dynasty Warriors 6 and Konami’ chilled out underwater adventure Lost in Blue 3 – which marks the series’ first foray onto handheld in the UK.

You're missing something
What about Lego Batman? That's still scheduled for Friday.
Re: You're missing something
You're right - story has been amended.
already done 40 legobatman on import
yeah had this title for weeks now on ps3 and xbox 360 been selling nicely on import, ill have used ones in before the uk games comes out, so used versions cheaer than uk new price, everyone wins !! gotta beat those nasty supermarkets !
Re: already done 40 legobatman on import
I posted before but i didnt get much response, were are you getting all the imports from?
Someone suggested Ebay, but i really doubt you bought 40 off ebay :)
Re: Re: already done 40 legobatman on import
Sorry, anothe error, Lost In Blue 3;
1)is not the first in the series to come out in the UK on handheld, as the previous two are in fact exclusive to the DS and out in the UK.
2)is not an underwater adventure - are you thinking of Endless Ocean?
Oh well *switches pedant mode off*
I see once again another "indy" showing a high level of professionalism - if a big specialist were to act in a similar way they'd be the first to cry out in mock disgust. As for him selling them cheaper, well Asda will have this at £30 new so you're going to have to give your customers about £15 trade for it when Game and Gamestation will be giving £25. Good luck.
Re: Re: Re: already done 40 legobatman on import
@ James - if you're in the trade then you should look in the forum and I will help you out a little more with a pm or something as to a supplier.
@ Jon - I am sorry that you feel that way but desperate times call for desperate measures and as the call to the industry to tighten this pricing war falls on deaf ears then Indies will do all they can to supply product in a different way to survive. You wouldn't hesitate at the chance of buying a AAA title at the prices supermarkets are giving so some have adapted the policy of being able to supply the product well in advance of the UK date. They adapt with crap pricing policies that will kill the market which no-one seems to have a problem with so Indies will flood the market with imports to satisfy demand ahead of a release date.
Everybody says indies have to adjust to a changing market and the post showed that this Indie has. Now it is a problem because he can actually make a living again?? Supermarkets put him in this position, deal with it.
:@ gazzara
i really appreciate your post here, i feel that as im in business i have to do what i can to turn a profit and feed my family, its as basic as that, im sorry if selling imports is frowned upon but its one way i can make money and stay open, supermarkets are making it hard to stock new titles, which i really want to support, but when your called a rip off every day by customers who dont understand im only making £2 its very hard to do this, im all for competiton, but in truth we can not compete on lost leaders, ok deals are only on for a short period, but its enough to take regular customers away from my shop, as parents tells the kids come on you can get it cheaper at a supermarket, plus people have stopped pre ordering so much as they will wait to see what price the title is elsewhere,
@ jon
why so much hate and anger, indies are slagged off what ever they do, they cant sell fifa for £25 so they sell imports, and survive on trade ins, its nothing to do with professinalism its survial, you cant live off sellin fifa 2004 !!you need new stock and you cant always sell new releases due to supermarket deals now, you need something to keep customers comin in your shop
Re: @ 7
we're all in this together fella which is why I posted (brotherhood and all that, lol).
People on here think the sun shines out of supermarkets bums and then we counteract it, it is a big no, no.
If people understood how shafted Indies get day in day out they might be a little more understanding but I doubt that would ever happen. I agree that there are some shocking Indies out there that give us a bad name but that is not to say we all are.
