Has THQ acquired 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand?

Aussie regulatory listing suggests THQ is to publish Swordfish Studios’ former Vivendi title

A new entry in the Australian government’s Classification Database seems to suggest that US publisher THQ has acquired the rights to publish Swordfish Studios’ hip-hop themed 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand.

The shooter was one of a number of titles that was left out in the cold following the merger of Activision, Vivendi and Blizzard, and whilst the new super-publisher has never been explicit in its intentions, to date there has been no final word on the future of the title or IP.

The Aussies granted the title a restricted MA 15+ rating, the strictest available under Australian law for a video game, claiming that the title includes “strong violence and coarse language, sexual and drug references”.

Thanks, VG247.
