US Presidential hope tries to lure voters with billboards in Burnout Paradise
Barack Obama’s campaign team has bought ‘Obama For President’ billboards in Burnout Paradise.
“I can confirm that the Obama campaign has paid for in-game advertising in Burnout,” Holly Rockwood, director of corporate communications at Electronic Arts, told Gigaom.
“Like most television, radio and print outlets, we accept advertising from credible political candidates. Like political spots on the television networks, these ads do not reflect the political policies of EA or the opinions of its development teams.”
EA CEO John Riccitiello is a supporter of Obama and has already donated to his campaign.

I think...
...this is a good thing. Elections are important and concern all of us, so bringing advertisements such as this into games says two things:
1. There trying to encourage the young vote, which is an obvious but important message.
2. They believe the gaming community could have an effect on the upcoming election. So even the American Government thinks gaming is important!
Even though we wont see these advertisements I think this could have an effect of the outcome in November.
Yes for Obama.

Re: I think...
Well didn't they do a "dummy" poll for XBL members in the US a month or so ago? And If I remember rightly Obama was victorious in that.
This will only help his campaign further. Lets face it XBL users will relate more to him if they see him in games.
And as Lee said...
Yes for Obama.
Re: Re: I think...
Yeah your right Jimothy they did. I wonder if that 'dummy' election was a test to see if it would be worth doing?
In May Microsoft released that they had 12 Million active members, a large portion of this were American users. I just hope Obama's messages are easy on the eye, memorable etc, it would be a shame if this were to flop.

McCain follows suit...
Have you heard? McCain has followed Obama's lead and is running his own in-game advertising campaign. Czech out the examples at www yooryoo com
