LittleBigPlanet scores 95% on Metacritic

Sony title second highest-ever ranked title on PS3 – behind GTA IV

Sony’s LittleBigPlanet is storming Metacritic, averaging an astounding 9.5/10 from the Western world’s major press.

The score (correct at the time of posting) makes the game the second highest-ever scoring game on PS3, behind GTA IV. It beats lauded releases such as COD4 (9.4/10), MGS4 (9.4/10) and Rock Band (9.2/10).

Top scores come from IGN, EuroGamer and Kikizo – which all grant the game 9/10 – whilst the Official PlayStation Magazine awards it full marks.

See the full, updated Metacritic list here.

It's been a good week for new releases on the service, with EA's FIFA 09, NHL 09 and Dead Space all earning near the 9/10 mark.

Dead Space has since dropped to 89% since your article yesterday. There are plenty of reviews still to be added to the metacritic scoring on both Dead Space & LBP, I believe LBP will probably stay around that mark, But maybe you should wait for more of the reviews to be added, as a true representation of the average review score.

Not a critism but. . . looking at the gameplay (NOT the visuals), I would have thought the 'natural' format for this game would have been the Wii. If this is a hit, I'm sure we will see a huge number of clones on all formats especially the Wii.

Lol, Look at you go Ivan. You must remind us all what dept you work in at Sony :)

I'm sure LBP will creep up to 96%-97%, But at the moment it's 95%.

Good for Sony, lets hope they can build up some momentum finally. Up until now, it seems as if they have a marketing department hell-bent on killing an awesome machine. Now Sony, about that 50 quid price cut . . . . . . .
