PES 2009 downloadable roster updates confirmed

Konami claims first free downloadable patch will be available around three weeks after release

Ahead of tomorrow’s release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, publisher Konami has confirmed that the game is to receive periodic squad updates going forwards – with the first set to arrive some time in early November.

The first patch will offer updates to four Spanish sides (Athletico Madrid, Sevilla, Racing Santander and Valladolid) and will also tweak of number of kits and team rosters for some of the game’s other clubs. Additionally, 12 extra teams will be added to the UEFA Champions League lineup.

“PES 2009 is already a million seller in pre-orders alone, but these new additions show how we are determined to continually improve the content of the game,” Konami’s PES European Team Leader Jon Murphy stated. “We hope the updated team data and new UEFA Champions League elements will show our ongoing support for PES 2009’s team rosters, and look to continually enhancing such sections in the coming year at no extra cost.”

Yesterday saw the first reviews of PES 2009 hit the internet, with the game receiving an overall positive response.

I have just put my copy of PES 2009 (eh 08!) in my ps3 and can't belive how out of date this is i have not played enough to give a fair opinion on the gameplay but first impressions are poor if they can't get the squads right which must be one of the easiest things to do i don't hold out much hope for the rest of the game.
Anyway back to it i think i'll play klinsman upfront for spurs.

Does anyone have any news on the patch for PS3?
As a loyal PES player its becoming increasingly difficult to argue my point with narrow minded FIFA players.
Last year I bought a data update file for PS2 off Ebay, with kit and name changes also, havent seen anything similar for 09. Any info on where to find one would be appreciated.

Narrow minded pes players more like! Pes 2009 is a great game. Now.....if you want to be up to date and have all the correct names and emblemns etc then watch match of the day! If you want to play a great game of footie on the ps3 then get pes 2009 and wait (patiently) for the update.

AO : If on the main menu you scroll down to system settings (on 2nd page by edit etc), select download and then P2P, it will download the updates for you.

Cheers

I like PES 09 more than EA Sport's FIFA but the problem is that the rooster is so out of date and I found out that many leagues like Bundesliga are not included. I am wandering why? PLUS THE INCORRECT TEAM NAMES GIVES IT A BAD NAME
