Zavvi launches game clearout

Entertainment retailer slashes game prices in run-up to Christmas

With the Christmas release schedule growing increasingly congested, Zavvi has cut prices on recently released titles both online and in-store.

The clearout covers all platforms, with deals including Devil May Cry 4 on Xbox 360 and PS3 for £11.99, The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass on DS for £16.99 and No More Heroes on Wii for £12.99.

The clearout began today, and is set to run for two weeks.

Black October.

The month the games industry spiralled out of control and it's value came crashing down.

You'll be seeing little Lithuanian women wheeling wheelbarrows full of old PS3 games to exchange for a bag of potatos next.

I'm tellin ya.

Yet again, an Euk supplied retailer haveing a clearout.
From a company that apparently can not get backing from publishers and cant afford to buy stock!

It appears Euk may not be in the place where some people think they are!!

Great! Another supplier to add to my growing list. Thanks Zavvi! We sold a pre-owned Assassin's Creed a couple of weeks ago for more than Zavvi are shipping it for.

They remind me of Gamestation when they were good.

Whoever is in charge of their staff ethos is a genius. Store marketing is hitting the consumer smack bang in the face too.

Evening all

To the consumer, this is great news!!

To the retailer it just adds another annoyance to the ever growing list of annoyances

(Phone rings for ten minutes, so it must be of the truly utmost importance)
"Have you got any Wii Fits?"

"I Bought an Xbox 360 from you and I have red lights on it"

"I haven't got a receipt but.............."

"But on your website it is.........."

"Can you throw in something extra......go on......you're the Manager, surely you can do a deal....."

"Of course its been released, its in the Argos catalogue!"

"Can you tell me the trade in price of these 12 games........I haven't got them with me but I have a list"

"£3 trade in!! Crazy, I paid £40 for that game when I bought it (4 years ago)"

"My Wii remote doesn't work, I paid good money for this and drove 20 miles, and you sell me a shoddy remote, I should phone my MP and tell the world how rubbish you are......what do you mean synchronise it.......oh, ok..........oh yes, its working now.....(hangs up)"

"Can you tell me how to use my new TV?"

"If I play it, finish it, totally love it, and get all the achievements, can I bring it back for a refund?"

Lets look forward to a week of

"Do you price match?"

and customers stating loudly as they leave the store

"Come on, lets go, Its cheaper down the road at Zavvi"

It just shows that Zavvi's foray into video games means they cannot compete and have conceded defeat.

And they talked about taking on the pre-owned beast!

I like Zavvi too, and I hope they continue to do what they do best, but video games just ain't your thing, clear it all out and dare ye not enter these shores again!!

A lovely Xmas present to Indies, great for the consumer, .........product devaluation and another addition to the growing list of sale and price cuts that are killing the industry

Happy days all round then!!

Anyone want to add anything to my list of annoyances......could be a chuckle!!

Or is it because Devil may cry contains the word devil, which could be considered offensive as the devil features in the bible, a holy book.

Bite............
