Whilst developer Media Molecule admits to being ‘gutted’ by last minute delay
Following the news late last Friday that Sony’s LittleBigPlanet has been delayed owing to some questionable content in one of its songs, developer Media Molecule has publicly expressed its disappointment – though that hasn’t stopped eBay traders rushing to make big profits from the delay.
A quick search on eBay shows traders asking for as much as $180 for copies of the title, and VG247 claims that some auctions have already successfully closed around the $140 mark.
And developer Media Molecule has issued a statement on its website admitting that the news has left it shocked. “At MM we were as shocked and dismayed by this as anyone – shellshocked and gutted. We can’t wait for you all to get playing and creating.
“We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), Media Molecule had prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks. They assure us that they are doing everything in their power to get things straightened out as fast as possible, and will announce dates soon.
“Apologies to everyone excited to play the game and I can assure you that when it arrives, it will be worth the wait! We want everyone to be able to enjoy the game, and this tweak should help - we’re just gutted it couldn’t be sooner. MM continues to work hard to support the game too. We know that LBP will be something that you can enjoy for a long time to come, when all of this is forgotten and all that remains are thousands of incredible levels and creations to play, create and share.”

Content is the issue
I don't want to open up a can of worms here, but is the real reason why the Muslim community is kicking off not because of the use of the Qua'ran, but more the content of what was used? I read that the words used in the LBP track tranlate to something like "every soul shall have the taste of death" and "all on earth will perish".
If that's really what the Qua'ran has to say, I'm not surprised Muslims don't want it being used on what will surely become Sony's best-selling ever PS3 title. And why does it even have these words in a religous book? I just don't understand...
Re: Content is the issue
@ Duncan:
Dont just take their word for everything you read or hear, look for yourself and find the exact words you 'think' is in the Games songs. I challenge you, you wont find any of those words in the Qu'ran.
I am a Muslim, and i love computer games! there is no boundary with games these days, and for that reason things like this happens. I personally believe Religion, ALL Religions should NEVER be included in any games or media as such, its an extremely sensitive subject.
Thank for listening.
Shame on those lamers...
..selling promo copies. THAT makes my blood boil. They are provided to help you promote the product in store not a fast buck on eBay. Grrr...

“I personally believe Religion, ALL Religions should NEVER be included in any games.”
Yes I agree, NOT!
Let’s not educate, challenge and share knowledge that way we can all stay ignorant and blind. Religion breeds indifference, homophobia and racism and you should all be criticised and questioned as you’re holding us all back! (Pun intended).
