Gears Of War 2 not coming to Japan and Germany

Sequel to Epic Games' classic will not see light of day in territories

Gears Of War 2 will not be released in Germany or Japan, Microsoft has confirmed.

A company spokesperson has told Edge: “We can confirm that Gears of War 2 will not be available in Germany or Japan indefinitely” said the spokesperson.

According to the magazine, Gears sold 33,212 copies in Japan in its first week and entered the software charts at number seven.

The game has sold over 3m units worldwide and was the first title to overtake Halo 2 as the most popular game on Xbox Live.

Yeah, but then you can't get DLC, which is very problematic when map packs come out...

Possibly, but then there are ways around that too aswell if you make an account from a different region and download it.
Depends how many hardcore german gears fans there are.

Glad to see MS show some balls with this one, rather than bend over and neuter the game.

The only thing that's going to get rid of overzealous censorship is refusing to play the game, not pandering to whatever the local equivalent of The Daily Mail is.

Accept the game as it comes, or don't get it at all. Well done.
