Big screen version of EA’s fresh IP coming from Universal
Universal Pictures has acquired screen rights to EA’s Army of Two, according to Variety.
The US entertainment paper reports that the studio is looking to ‘fast-track’ the project to begin production in 2009 and has set The Bourne Ultimatum co-writer Scott Z. Burns to pen the script.
Scott Stuber will produce alongside EA – the first time the video game giant has directly taken a film production role.
"Because people experience the game in pairs, playing two guys who go against the world, Scott and I agreed this format presented an opportunity to make a great buddy film," Burns said.
"The ambiguity of these private military corporations lends weight to an intelligent thriller with relevance to what’s going on in the world right now.

“You have contractors with their own agendas, and two guys whose friendship supersedes all the politics. I told EA right off the bat I wasn’t a gamer, and that appealed to them because they didn’t want to simply replicate the game."

nah bound to be rubbish like 95% of game to movie deals,
american cheese, hint of romance, finish off with a touch of moral guidance
Re: usa cheese
Hasn't everyone already forgotten about this game?
Re: Re: usa cheese
the game itself lays in the bargain bin of most retailers stores, surely this should give some indications to what 'Gaming People' thought of it,.. not surprised to see the movie industry want to make the bridge between the two platforms - but as nobody clearly enjoyed the game why would they want to even see the film?
Re: Re: Re: usa cheese
I own it. Single player is actually decent. If the movie is the same quality as the mutliplayer product, expect it to be total pants.
Re: Re: Re: Re: usa cheese
A Good Script, High Profile cast and good director and who knows. Stranger things have happened.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: usa cheese
usa cheese stfu its goin to be good so shut your mouth
wait and see
this really could work, the game itself was damn good fun and onlylies in bargain bins now because the sales life span of games has gone down like mad, anyone that's actually played the game will know that this could really work, so lets just wait and see!
