Sony’s console shows no signs of catching Xbox 360 as PSP 3000 rules the roost
Proving that it’s sales popularity is anything but a passing success, Xbox 360 has outsold PS3 for the sixth week in succession in Japan this week, according to figures from Media Create.
Microsoft’s machine sold 7,844 units for the week ending October 26th – nearly double the number of that managed by PS3, whose 3,931 is the lowest the console has seen since its release.
It’s not all bad news for Sony, though, with the recent release of its third generation PSP ruling the roost with sales of 60,467, rounding off a strong debut for the machine. Nintendo’s DS and Wii managed sales of 22,965 and 24,292 respectively.
And the PS2 continues to justify its ongoing place in the marketplace, outpacing its younger brother with sales of 6,962.

Here they come.
Oo look -A fanboy baiting news story. Who's going to be first to mention how 360's have a reliability problems.Or the Wii is for Kids and grannies. or "Just wait until [insert Sony exclusive game here] comes out, then PS3 will sell loadz"?
Re: Here they come.
No need to be a fanboy to point out that the slump is a normal thing, when you have the 80Gb PS3 bundles including a DS3 and a game (GT5P or LBP) for the same price as the current 40Gb coming out on Oct. 30th.
Seemed logical for most Japanese buyers to hold, don't you think ?
i dont understand
i keep reading conflicting stories about consoles, over on another site i read that ps3 global sales is now more than 360 in the past 2 months, then you read 360 is doing better, i think all consoles are doing great business really, xbox has been out 3 years its bound to be doin very well its got 3 years of software to back it up
Re: i dont understand
Exactly, all 3 of the consoles are doing very well. I think you'll see all 3 of them do well for a long time. In general though I'm curious to see what Sony's future will bring in the console market. The problem they have is that the PS3 was so expensive to make and put out from what I've heard is they'll never make their money back... if that is the case is there ever going to be a PS4? Or is this Sony riding out the PS3 until they move out of the console market and just concentrate on the handheld market where they are obviously doing very well. Was it a sign when the "father of the Playstation" left the console group?
Re: Re: i dont understand
Sony should have learned their lesson with the PSX (which isn't the PS1!). They touted that as the multimedia device everyone would want in their living room.
The problem was, everyone didn't want it and it bombed. So once again, they claim the PS3 is the "True" HD multimedia device everyone will want in their living room...
Apart from the fact that only about 1% of all the games released so far have natively been in the alleged "True" HD resolution, most people generally don't want ugly gaming devices sat there for all to see. They should have built a "games console" and sold exactly that.
