Simultaneous worldwide release of November 20th reaffirmed for Xbox 360 exclusive RPG
Square Enix’s upcoming next-gen RPG The Last Remnant has been granted an impressive 38/40 from Japanese games mag Famitsu – and Square Enix has followed the news with confirmation of the game’s worldwide release in North America, Japan and Europe on November 20th.
Interestingly, the acclaimed publisher is still referring to the title as an Xbox 360 exclusive, though it is understood that a later PS3 release will follow some time next year.
In addition, the publisher has today launched a brand new website for the game which can be found at www.lastremnant-game.com.
The game’s producer Nobuyuki Ueda stated: “Our goal with The Last Remnant was always to make a game that would be welcomed by a global audience.
“Our fans across Europe have been very supportive towards us, and we wanted to give them the opportunity to play the game at the same time as fans in Japan. We hope they’ll enjoy playing The Last Remnant as much as we have enjoyed making it.”

Too bad
Too bad SE's doing this. Quality title or not. Not buying any of these games that play the timed exclusive game.

Re: Too bad
Surely the most notable thing about this story is seeing the words "simultaneous worldwide release" in a story about a Square Enix title.
I suppose "simultaneous worldwide release on all platforms" would've been a step too far!
Re: Re: Too bad
@ Morne,
So deny yourself a great game because its a timed exclusive? Right. I suspect a bitter PS3 owner myself. I may be wrong, But I can't see why else someone wouldn't buy a game because it's a timed exclusive. What kind of reason is that.
Grow Up.
Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Jimothy, your right i am a PS3 owner but not a bitter one as i have the better of the two console's. I take it you have an Xbox 360? Sounds like your the bitter one because you dont own a PS3! Your the one that should grow up!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
@4 Oh dear, ps3 fan boys just get worse and worse!! What a plank!!
Re: Too bad
So Morne, you won't be buying it ANYWAY, because you believe you have the "better" system. Just like Mac users, who think their system is better, even though there's (note the similarity here) far, far FAR less software available for it.
I own both systems. I'm sure you were A-ok with the GTA games being released for the PS2 long before the Xbox versions, but you cry cry cry when it's turned against your chosen system. I own one disc-based game for my PS3, and 3 downloadable titles. That's it. If it's out for both systems, I get the 360 version. That way I know, without having to look, that the online play WILL WORK RIGHT (which means headset compatability). Hardware means nothing without stellar software, and vice-versa. The 360 is questionably stable hardware with the best front-end and developer requirements of any system out.
Also, the "timed" exclusive here is more likely them trying to make sure the game is more than a halfhearted port from the 360. The PS3 may have more potential power, but it's hidden so deep that few developers bother looking for it. These guys may just be trying to get it running at the same performance level. Would you rather have it NOW, and it runs horribly, or wait, and have it run right?
And maybe next time, tone down your nerd rage and learn where apostrophes do and don't go. If I could make a living off of correcting people mangling their NATIVE LANGUAGE, I'd have more work than I could manage.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
@ Morne
have not said anything to suggest I own a 360, I have not done anything to suggest I don't have a PS3, nor is there anything to be bitter about. You just have to look at Gregg's reaction to know how ridiculous you come across.
@ Gregg
"What a plank!!"
Couldn't agree more. Christ.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
You xbox fan boys are the worst of the lot, thinking that you all own a machine that is out of this world and that nothing even comes close. Well news flash for you all the ps3 is by far the better console and anyone that says otherwise clearly knows nothing about gaming. Especially you Jimothy!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Dear oh dear Mornelithe...
I pity you.
Wow
It amazes me that people are still having retarded arguments about which console is better. Sony and Microsoft don't care what you think as long as they have your money. Why are you arguing for two monolithic corporations?
I own both, The Xbox 360 is brilliant but i'm on my 4th one already thanks to a shocking failure rate. Having said that I actually PLAY GAMES on it, as opposed to the PS3 which I only own two games for...and one came with it! Great Blu-ray player though.
It cannot be argued that games which get released simultaneously on both consoles are generally superior on Xbox 360 though. Just look at any comparison.

Re: Wow
Unfortunately GAmbrose, the only person arguing here is Mornelithe (who he is arguiing with though I'm not sure). I wish I'd never said what a bad excuse "it's a timed exclusive" was for not buying a good game.
Re: Too bad
Man, this guy cracks me up. No basis for his claim, simply "it's TEH BOMBDIGGITY!!1!". See reference to Mac owners in my previous post.
The 360 has issues. But the PS3 wasn't thought out very well either, Their online functionality is broken and the hardware is a nightmare to code efficiently to. The 360 isn't flawless, but if you have friends you play online with, it's the system to buy.
But you're a fanboy! you don't need actual REASONS to love that PS3 so much! Just keep saying it's awesome with no basis whatsoever! People respect baseless faith!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Somebody here has entirely missed the point of the story and each subsequent reply, can we guess who it is..?
Morne,
Choosing to not buy a game because it's a timed exclusive is hurting nobody but you, it's a simple concept. Maybe you feel that there are many people as childish as you that will do the same, and that the publisher might lose enough money to think a little harder about potential customers feelings in future.. I very much doubt it.
Grow up indeed!
Re: Re: Too bad
Time for a moderator to delete every post except number 2.
Re: Re: Re: Too bad
I'm tempted ;-)
Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
I'm tempted to take everything written after a story with a pinch of salt, it's not life and death material after all. Deleting every post except number 2 seems slightly excessive, why not do away with comments entirely if people are not allowed to have a reasonable discussion?
Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Oh my god! I give up! You 360 fan boys have nothing better to do but defend the poor decision you made in purchasing a inferior machine. I didn’t even mention anything about the 360! Jimothy gets on his high horse and all he dose is start a war!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Ben,
If your tempted to delete them all please do it.
I thought I'd comment on something that I thought was ridiculous, and lets face it, not buying a good/great game due to it being "a timed exclusive" is ridiculous. I'm not responding to Mornelithe's comments no longer, as he/she seems to have gone way off the rails
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
That’s it Jimothy you go running to the Locust look a like from MVC. Typical!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
There is nothing wrong with not buying a timed exclusive if you are willing to wait for it come out later on your chosen system - but to not buy it outright on either system as some sort of protest doesnt make an ounce of sense.
As an aside, why bother deleting the posts - I myself stopped reading once I saw it became a fanboy flame war, am sure other people can make the same decision. Maybe some people actually like reading such stuff ? I guess there is the dignity of the site to consider - but there is always the forums if you want a fanboy free read. To be fair, even in the public comment boards on MCV, the ratio of quality posts to fanboy rants is better than what you get on many other sites. You will never get it totally fanboy free.
Xbox 360 rules! ...just kidding.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Locust look-a-like!?!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Good grief, and here's me thinking half-term was over.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
I agree with Warren. This whole thing is just ridiculous.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
I like black people..................they funny
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
MORNE.....
what a retard
.....first, for buying a ps3 in the first place
second, whining that the game will come on 360 before ps3
(which doesn't matter...)
Ps3 is getting tons more exclusives than 360, so why whine about one little game?
god it sucks to own a ps3...makes people into little cry babies with mad issues
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
Wow!
When I saw that this article had 24 comments so quick I thought it must be one hell of an article.
No. Just Fanboys.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
@19
"locust Lookalike"?
You're a Gears of War fan then Morne? That'd explain the "exclusives" bitterness then...
It all gets very silly on here nowadays, doesn't it? Right, back to the discussion.
The Last Remnant - Let's hope that the decent reviews will help it achieve a good retail number when it's released. Enix keep pushing various RPG's as "The One That Will Really Appeal To Western Gamers", and then end up in a 2 For £30 after 2wks.
Fingers crossed that this'll maybe break the mould in the UK!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
You guy’s on here make me chuckle. Throw out a worm and watch them bite. I was just bored at work, that’s all. Its just funny to see people like Jimothy getting all defensive about there console. (Which ever one it might be) You’re both as bad as each other. I don’t care a bit about what’s better out of the ps3 and 360. I actually owed both but sold my ps3 because all my mates have a 360. Best thing is I’m not even sorry, made my day go by faster. Laters!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too bad
@28 Ha Ha Ha, Well done mate! Nice one! lol
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Too
Mornelithe.. Quote me where I have defended a console? Go on. TRY IT.
You can't. You know why? Cause I have not defended one console on this article what so ever. Silly fool.
I love how your now trying to back track. Hilarious.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:
I hate myself!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:
Mornelithe, just one question : how old are you ?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:
@ Sam, Sorry mate I’m not interested in a relationship at the moment, thanks anyway!
And Jimothy, I rest my case.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:
Funny that, Cause you don't actually have a case. :)
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:
Well, it wasn't a proposition Mornelithe, a relationship with someone under 14 would be illegal.
Seriously, grow up.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:
That’s not the point Sam, what would Frodo think? He’s meant to be the Lord Of your Ring! He would be distraught if we hooked up.
Well Done!
Well done guys!

my 2 cents
well.. i am posting because I feel this isn't a bad topic to talk about open minded.
Xbox doing the time release exclusive is a fair tactical ploy. It however very rough on fans of both systems creating a bitter rival for no real reason. I will say there are a few good reason to boycot time exclusive games.
1. its creates a burden on game buyers.
2. it creates rumors that hurt the game and company.
3. it insults the intelegance of the gammer comunity
we are smart comunity and realize when we are being stepped on and mistreated. I do feel that this time exclusive is like a knife in the back. we deserver better and well not buying poor decisions liek time exclusive games is a way to show these companies that we do not like being treated poorly and it hurts them where it counts in the pocket book.
but at the same time. Missing out on a great game due to this idealism equaly hurts the gammign comunity . this happens cause of the prenotioned negativity to the time release concept and not the game content. Those not wanting to be robbed of a good game badger the game and the council that got the time exclusive, They never played it and they are in a sense lieing to themselves; they are not missing anythign important while trying to convice others that they are right. We as gammer should not care about the company and who is doing what for profit and just play what we like.
We are not able to live in that black and white world. We have to deal with these decisions cause it effects us and often we will not be happy with these decsions like time exclusive. We would not be nearly as upset if it was tecnical problems or programing. its the lack of communication and half truths that really piss us off. We more or less know whats going on but just can't get a confermation on it due to corprite politics and as a gammer we really dislike and frown upon this type of feuding. Its only bad for us; as we have to bare the burden. I believe maybe we should to some extent boycot titles untill they are released for both councels. This will stop these petty squables if we as a community can band together. This issue of time released exclusiveness is not councel dependit it will be an issue for both systems ruining our gaming enjoyment. Maybe its just me but I agree with both sides maybe a little more on the boycot side, but can ya really call the guy an idoit for wanting to boycot an insult to our gaming enjoyment. Maybe I am wrong but thats just how I feel on this issue. sorry for my horrible typos and grammer. hope it doesn't distract from my point of view to make this a topic worth discussing.
