PS3 first-party shooter earns respectable average on reviews round-up site
Sony’s big FPS release on PS3, Resistance 2, is currently sitting on an 88 per cent average review score on Metacritic.
That leaves the game at 16th spot in the PS3 All Time High Scores list on the site – which aggregate scores from the US and UK specialist press.
IGN gives the title 95 per cent, reporting:
“The single player is epic in scope and in story, which is practically worth the price of admission by itself. Then you throw in the extremely engaging co-op and competitive play, which expands on replayability in just about every way possible. Toss in a generous number of unlockables, trophies and community support, and you've got a phenomenal experience.”
Elsewhere, Wired awards the game 90 per cent, writing:

“While it gives players that quintessential amped-up FPS experience, it isn't doing anything especially innovative or new.
"The firefights are intense, the pacing will keep you on the edge of your seat and quite a few scenes prove absolutely breathtaking, but the game's chief strength is the story that binds it all together, and the multiplayer modes that should keep us amused for quite some time.”

Metacritic has lost it's credibility
From it's inability to stop users from posting reviews prior to game launches, to it's 'selective' game review posting. It's increasingly apparent that Metacritic is no longer the trusted source it once was. It's a sad day when IGN reflects the wider opinion of the community, than Metacritic.

The user reviews on Metacritic are seperate from the Critic Reviews. The 88% is what has been given from Review sites from all around the world, Not from random users. I'd rather trust reviews from websites than from random people posting reviews before the game is even released.
Personally I find Metacritic very trustworthy, they are taking the average review score from say 30+ review sites i.e IGN, Videogamer, Eurogamer etc...
More to the point, This is a good score for Resistance, It would be nice if it hit the 90 mark. But still this is another strong game out there for Christmas.

I think you’re the only one that’s lost credibility Morne, after the pure crap you came out with in the ‘Last Remnant’ news report. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I don’t think yours I welcome on this site anymore. So jog on!

I think Metacritic had to take the action they did - user reviews have no credibility whatsoever if they're filled with fanboys who deliberately post low scores for a rival platform's leading games. If that was allowed to continue, the ratings would be meaningless and about as far from a genuine barometer of user opinion as you can get.
Anyway, I for one am very much looking forward to Resistance 2.

ive got the beta for this and i could not believe how fast this thing is with 60 players online, no lag, its very very cool, 8 player co-op amazing, im now on Killzone 2 beta and this simply stamps a new standard on games, i cant believe what im seeing on screen, amazing game play.

I have the American version, which was out on the 3rd of this month and so far what ive played of the game its seems very, and i agree the online side of things is very fast, welldone insomniac
