2,500 fans queue for Lich King HMV launch

Latest World of Warcraft sees European launch at Oxford Street store

HMV’s flagship Oxford Street store saw the official launch of Wrath of The Lich King at midnight last night, attracting a whopping 2,500 strong horde of fans.

The second expansion for huge franchise World of Warcraft was officially launched in Europe at the HMV store, where patient fans got to meet Blizzard COO Paul Sams.

Some WOW devotees exhibited an impressive level of commitment by queuing as early as 6pm on Monday evening (November 11th) to be among the first to get their hands on the eagerly awaited title.

"The Games Industry's best kept secret is officially out - this franchise is absolutely huge, and just keeps getting bigger and better,” enthused HMV’s Head of Games, Tim Ellis. “It's also perfect for HMV as it brings together the idea of physical product with online gaming - which is a space that we're increasingly looking to moving into. This is a heavyweight title, which will, undoubtedly, go on to be a big seller in the run up to Christmas and beyond."

This is the first time most of them have been out in several years.

Some were said to be afraid of the daylight.

The funniest part is the guy who fainted at the front of the queue and missing being 'first'. Classic

To re-affirm what sgh said, he probably fainted since that's the first time in a long time he'd been outside, out of his favourite computer chair...
