Woolworths denies plan to shut down site

Company ‘reducing some SKUs’; but games safe from cull

Woolworths has rubbished reports that it is planning to shut down its retail website.

Retail Week reported earlier today that the chain was to stop selling toys online – and that it was eventually planning to take down the site altogether.

However, a spokesperson told MCV:

“Reports that we are closing down the website aren’t correct. It is true that we are reducing the number of SKUs we sell online and that toys are no longer being sold.

“However, our online operation will continue – and video games will be a key part of that. There will be no change to the number of games on the site or the way they are currently sold.”

The company is currently in emergency discussions with Hilco UK Ltd over a possible takeover.

Anyone who doesn't see how this helps businesses become stronger and by virtue of that filtering through the economy is a fool.

This isn't a perfunctory gesture to help consumers save 2.5% you know.

It has a much broader affect than cutting council tax and income tax.
