Assassin’s Creed 2 confirmed

Speculation that Altair’s next adventure could be set in 1700 during the French revolution

As part of its recent financial results, Ubisoft revealed that it is unsurprisingly hard at work to a sequel to 2007 chart success Assassin’s Creed.

The publisher would not commit to a release window for the title, nor that it would arrive in the company’s 2010 fiscal year, but a 2009 Christmas release does seem like the most likely prospect.

In addition, there has been speculation that the game may be set several hundred years after the first title, which took place primarily in 1191. The French Revolution in the 1700s has been hinted at by leading industry analyst Michael Pachter.

The first was pretty good for an original ip, lets just hope they can build on that.

Yes, as long as they add plenty more features, so it's less repetitive. I've no doubts that it will look even more incredible.

French Revolution? I thought the hints in the last game (scrawl on the lab floor in blood, visible through your 'vision') pointed to Japan as the setting for the next game?
Either way I hope the new title isn't as over hyped as the last. The game was flawed in so many ways and that's not including the massive number of bugs.
