Sony offers £40 PS3 saving online

Platform holder's Sony Style portal offers console for as little as £250

Despite repeatedly confirming there will be no official price cut for the PS3, Sony is offering significant savings to consumers who purchase various models of the console directly from its website.

Available in 40Gb, 80Gb and 160Gb versions, current prices for the PS3 on Sony Europe’s direct sales division Sony Style start at £249.99, representing a saving of £40 for the 40Gb model.

The platform holder has stated there will be no official price cut on the High Street this Christmas, positioning the PS3 as the most expensive console on the market.

Sony’s website can be found here.

To be honest, its not that great a price, you can get an 80gb for £299 with 2 decent games free at GAME or GAMESTATION at the moment, along with most other retailers...

smack of desperation.

It just appears that with nowhere to go with their price point due to its loss making nature that they're resorting to cutting out the cost of distribution and retails cut.

I have to agree with some of the points above - who are blatently from Gem or Microsoft [genuine lol]

But after all is said and done - it shows how much regard Sony have for their retail and distribution partners.

Cheap - yes, on two counts.
