Need for Speed races to second place; Resistance 2 debuts in tenth
Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: World at War has taken the number one position in the ChartTrack Top 40 for the third week in a row – despite sales dropping by 30 per cent.
The game was raced all the way by EA’s Need For Speed: Undercover, which moved from fourth to second place with a 35 per cent jump in sales. EA’s other big Q4 release, FIFA ’09, makes way for the racer, dropping from second to third position.
It’s been a good week for Eidos too, with Tomb Raider: Underworld rising from ninth to seventh spot, with a 12 per cent increase in units sold.
The surprises, however, continue this week as the newly released Sonic Unleashed failed to make it into the Top 40.
In fact the only new entries in this week’s charts is Sony’s Resistance 2 in tenth place and Warner Bros' Guinness Book of Records: The Video Game in 29th.

who the hell buys this rubbish...
...unless I am mistaken not one of the games in the Top 10 has averaged 89% on Gamerankings or Metacritic. Am I to assume that COD 6, NFS 13 and FIFA 2010 are a lock for the Xmas 09 top spots. This is chart based on the title's marketing budget and SOA deals. Heaven forbid certain publishers let a game sell on the strength of it's gameplay. Maybe they should spend their money actually making great games that way we can have chart we can be proud of?
sonic
thats because sonic was great 15 years ago but now looks rubbish to those who loved it and means nothing to kids now
they should have made a new cartoon or something first..
Blame EUK
I imagine a big reason for these new titles - notably Resistance 2 and Sonic - failing to make the charts is because so many retailers didn't have stock due to EUK going into administration.
My local Morrissons still hasn't had any copies in.
