The producer of Kingdom Hearts 2 says interest in Microsoft’s machine is increasing in the Far East
Shinji Hashimoto, the producer of Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 2, believes that the Xbox 360 is far from done in the Far East – in fact, he believes the machine has far more to offer in the territory.
Speaking to Edge Online, Hashimoto stated: “We expect the Xbox 360 to increase its Japanese market presence even more in the coming months. There is a growing interest in Xbox 360 among Japanese users, due to the release of familiar titles, the increasing appeal of overseas titles, and the excellent reputation of the Xbox 360's network services.”
Furthermore, the exec believes that the extra love afforded to Microsoft’s machine by his company will lead to greater global recognition and success for its titles.
“We would not make decisions regarding hardware based solely on the Japanese user base,” he added. “Star Ocean 4, Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery were developed with the global market in mind, so by releasing them on the Xbox 360, which enjoys a high market share in the United States and Europe, we are hoping to gain more recognition from this large user base.”
Square Enix has become a vital ally for Microsoft in recent times. Its decision to bring Final Fantasy XIII to Xbox 360 was seen as a massive boom for the machine in the West, whilst its 360 exclusive RPGs such as Infinite Undiscovery and Star Ocean: The Last Hope (and, for a limited time, The Last Remnant) have given the machine a huge boost in Japan – so much so that it recently managed to outsell PS3 in the territory for six weeks flat.

It outsold the PS3 for 6 weeks......
Then resumed it's normal last - place stance recently, the PS3 has sold more in the last 3 weeks than the 360 did in the 6 weeks it was ahead.
Also, what drove sales of the 360 was the fact that you can now buy the arcade for about a fiver.....it had nothing to do with the games.
I hope they do well, I guess
Doesn't Square Enix wonder why their sales are down 74% this year compared to last year. I hope Microsft is paying them alot of money to subsidize the lower revenue they are generating compared to last year. I only bought Infinite Undiscovery from them in 2008 and that was a used copy too.
...
Yeah, the only reason they're supporting the 360, is because of Wada's greediness.
Square sucks
tooo bad squares other games besides ff13 suck. ya ff7 and 10 were good but the last remnant and infinite undiscovery were horrible from what ive heard. they have a ton of titles coming out in 2009 but if any of them are like last remant then they wont help xbox atall. plus the new xbox will be coming out in 2 years or so. we'll see what happens but i dont think square will really help much besides ff13..
nice to see the 360 in the land of the rising sun
nice to see support for the 360, maybe it will live long and happy.. 360 deserves a chance in japan as they tried so many times in the past..

Your "facts" are wrong unfortunately.
Get them right if your going to post something constructive please.
Last 3 weeks the PS3 has sold about 61,000. In the 6 weeks the Xbox 360 lead it sold 76,000.
Now to be honest, Yes the 360 has no hope of coming anywhere near the Wii or PS3 in terms of sales in Japan, but give them some credit at least, instead of spouting rubbish. I think it's pretty obvious the Wii and PS3 will come out on top in Japan.
