Young: iPhone games aren't good enough

Former EA exec Neil Young says title quality must improve before premium pricing is accepted by gamers

Whilst the Apple Apps store has been a monumental success for the iPhone platform holder since its arrival earlier this year, games priced at $9.99 or above have struggled to make much impact on the service – something that former EA exec Neil Young believes is down to the quality of the titles.

I'm not saying the quality is bad or the content shouldn't be charged for, but the amount of people (and it's a lot) that will refuse to part with £4.99+ for the certain titles is amazing. The games doing well are those priced at £0.59 - £2.99 and the game play is often better than the more expensive flashy games.

It amazes me that Iphone owners will part with £5 for an Iphone magazine whilst complaining about parting with £1.99 for a decent game. I am not sure how Apple will turn around the situation, but at some point it will have to make it worth while developers investing the time and commitment to required to develop a quality game. After all how many fart apps do they really want.
