Joypadless Tony Hawks, COD: Modern Warfare 2, Blizzard’s James Bond game and Guitar Hero 5 all revealed
US publisher Activision-Blizzard has revealed a number of its key titles for the upcoming year, including confirmation of exactly what form the next Call of Duty will assume.
A presentation at a conference held by in-game ads firm Massive revealed that Infinity Ward’s next shooter will be a direct sequel to its 2007 hit, and will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, dispelling rumours that perhaps the franchise might next time out visit the future after this year’s instalment returned to the historic setting of WWII.
It was also confirmed that the next Tony Hawk’s title will do away with the joypad entirely, instead favouring some kind of skateboard accessory. And that isn’t just for Wii and DS either – both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will support the peripheral too.
The publisher also revealed that its UK studio Bizarre Creations is working on a new James Bond title that is not tied in to any existing movie or story. The developer is also hard at work on a new racing IP, which was described as a cross between Mario Kart and Forza Motorsport – so probably quite like the studio’s now Microsoft-owned Project Gotham series.
Guitar Hero 5 was also name-dropped, though little information was revealed about the title.
