Sony at long last dates the release of its open beta for anticipated social networking service
The open beta of PS3 Home will be made available to all PS3 users from tomorrow (December 11th), SCEE has announced.
The open beta will include Ubisoft’s themed Far Cry 2 Home space, with additional spaces for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Warhawk, Motorstorm and SOCOM on the way shortly. Commercial partnerships have also been announced with brands such as Diesel, Ligne Roset and Red Bull. Users can also expect a heavy presence for the upcoming Watchmen movie, including an exclusive video greeting from the movie’s director Zack Snyder.
“PlayStation Home is truly a promising network community service on the PlayStation platform, made possible with the powerful combination of PS3's overwhelming computational power and PlayStation Network that covers many countries around the globe,” SCE president and group CEO Kazuo Hirai stated.
“We are committed to providing PS3 users with exciting gaming experiences with PlayStation Home and together with our partners and users, expand the new world of interactive entertainment as we move forward.”
Dubbed as a ground-breaking 3D social gaming community, Home allows users to interact with each other and communicate via their on-screen avatars.

Re: PS3 Home to launch tomorrow
Just updated with .3 and can no longer acess the net/home,last time this happened when I was just updating the standard operating system my PSX3 completely corrupted its hard drive(the only thing working was the clock-I poo you not)even though it was bought on day 1 Sony replaced the unit(this was only 1 month ago)within 2 days, even delivering it to my place of work! When I told them all this happened when I was downloading the upgrade they were very insistent the download had nothing to do with it.The thing is my unit had probably no more than a 100 hours of "on"time mostly devoted to Blu ray Hard core porn and GTA4........who watches the watchmen my friends?
