EA confirms Dantes Inferno title

Following speculation last month, Electronic Arts has confirmed that its Redwood Shores studio, the outfit behind the firm’s recent successful new survival horror IP Dead Space, is working on a brand new horror property based on Dante’s medieval epic.

Dante’s 14th century text The Divine Comedy is one of the world’s most celebrated literary texts and helped define the West’s views on hell and purgatory. EA’s title is to be based on the first part of the book, Dante’s Inferno, which itself focused on the nine circles of hell – limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery.

The time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience who, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art,” the game’s executive producer Jonathan Knight stated.

It’s the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.”

The game’s official site can be found here.
