Console overtakes Wii Fit in internet search charts; DS Lite becomes the fastest growing console online
Nintendo has once again dominated the UK’s festive online shopping searches, with the Wii and DS Lite becoming the first and second most searched for products online in November, according to date from retail analysts Hitwise.
The pair overtake October’s leader Wii Fit, though that remains the most searched for game. In addition, searches for gaming accessories increased by 114 per cent between October and November, with Wii Remote searches tripling.
“Following its success last Christmas, Nintendo has again won the battle of the consoles this Christmas on all fronts,” Hitwise UK’s director of research Robin Goad stated.
“The Wii and DS Lite were the two most searched-for games consoles in the UK during November, together accounting for almost two thirds of all console searches. There were over twice as many searches for the Wii as for Microsoft's Xbox 360, and almost three times as many as for Sony's Playstation 3.”
