Nintendo’s fitness title retains the top spot for the first time in its UK history
The nation may be strapped for cash, but it also needs to get into shape – at least that’s what the ELSPA Gfk-ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 suggests, with Nintendo’s Wii Fit clinging on to top spot for the second week on the trot following a hike in sales of 21 per cent.
It’s the first time Wii Fit has retained its place at the top of the charts, though this is the sixth time it has been the UK number one. And this week it’s not the only fitness title featuring in the top ten, with Ubisoft’s My Fitness Coach debuting in seventh position.
Rejuvenated stock levels of the previously hard-to-find Professor Layton and the Curious Village also see another new entry in the top ten, with Nintendo’s acclaimed DS puzzler claiming tenth position.
It’s also a good week for second placed Call of Duty: World at War succeeds in fending off the advances of EA’s Skate 2, which enters the listings in its debut week in third spot. EA claims three titles in the top five (bettered only by Nintendo’s five), with FIFA 09 in fourth and The Lord of the Rings: Conquest at number five.
The ELSPA Gfk-ChartTrack All Formats Top Ten in full (week ending January 24th):
