Job losses reported at Canada's Burnaby studio and publisher’s Australian arm
The EA rumour mill has continued to grind this morning with talk of further lay offs in both Canada and Australia.
Overnight speculation on Kotaku claims that EA Canada’s Burnaby studio will be the next to suffer lay offs, with the site claiming that up to 55 people have lost their jobs.
The news poses yet more serious questions about the future of the Need for Speed franchise – the Burnaby outfit was the team behind Need for Speed on the PSP, and with the series’ main developer Black Box having already suffered job cuts, it’s a guessing game as to who will handle development going forwards.
In addition, sources have claimed to MCV that EA’s Australian office has also suffered, with claims that top-level management have been shown the door.
When contacted by MCV, EA declined to comment on the speculation.
