EA: Casual gaming to be big news in 2009

Casual and family gaming to play a big part in EA’s plans for 12 months ahead

North American games publisher EA has pledged to make casual and family gaming a big part of its reinvention roadmap following some disappointing financial results for the firm’s last three months of 2008.

It’s online games portal POGO is currently riding high with record subscribers of 1.7m, and EA Mobile has so far this financial year generated $141m – an annual increase of 29 per cent. The publisher also currently lays claim to six of the top 20 iPhone games on the Apps Store.

WOW, All these publishers clambering over each other in a bid to get as much of this new fickle audience or as they should be called, the Wii generation.

Reminds me of when the Atari 2600 was all the rage.
