Firm will remain the exclusive games partner of the IOC; Mario and Sonic announcement to follow?
Japanese publisher Sega has confirmed that it is to remain the International Olympic Committee’s exclusive video game publishing partner for the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics – though it has stopped short of announcing its believed-to-be-in-development Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics.
A press release from the firm stated that the “exclusive license will allow Sega to once more publish the only official interactive entertainment software titles of the world’s most famous sporting event”.
Along with the expected Mario and Sonic game, Sega is likely to be also working on a fully-fledged Olympic title along the line of its straight-faced Beijing 2008 title.
The agreement itself grants Sega the sole rights to publish officially licensed Olympic games on consoles, PC, Mac and mobile phones worldwide.
“Sega is extremely excited to once again work with ISM on a series of multi-platform games celebrating the Olympic Games,” Sega COO Okitane Usui stated.

“The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games offers gamers a collection of exciting sports to master, as well as a stunning location for players to take advantage of. We aim to bring fans around the world an exhilarating experience whenever they play any Olympic title.”
